Training - Wight Fire & Security

Training at Wight Fire and Security

Wight Fire & Security are able to carry out fire training sessions tailored around your requirements. It is a requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 that ‘suitable and sufficient instruction and training on the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken by the employee in order to safeguard himself and other relevant persons on the premises’ be provided by the employer.

Fire Extinguisher Training

Our trainer will talk delegates through the different Classes of fire and the range of fire extinguishers commonly available to combat them with particular reference to the extinguishers used within the premises. All delegates will have a chance to use a water and carbon dioxide fire extinguisher under supervision of the instructor.

Fire Awareness Training

Including the above but with additional time spent discussing personal fire experiences, how fires start (the fire triangle) and relevant examples within the premises, the most common causes of fire, the premises evacuation procedure and ways of improving the fire safety within the workplace. These sessions take approx. sixty to seventy five minutes.

Care Home Fire Training

These sessions can be expanded to spend additional time looking at the evacuation strategy for the building and a tour of the premises looking at the fire equipment in place. A short question and answer sheet is available so that we can establish evidence of learning if required. This is particularly useful in business premises such as care homes where residents are reliant on staff to assist with evacuation. These training sessions take approx. 2/2.5 hours.

We try to involve the delegates within the sessions as much as possible so that they take an active role in the training. The maximum number of attendees at each of the above sessions is capped at twelve delegates.

Evacuation Drills

Our trained assessor is able to organise or oversee your evacuation drills, providing a debrief at the end of the exercise and a written report detailing the findings after the event. This is a great way to have an unbiased viewpoint of your evacuation strategy with constructive observations made to improve the safety of all occupants.

For further information on the above please call Steve Winter on 01983 407155.
