Wight Fire & Security are able to carry out fire training sessions tailored around your requirements. It is a requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 that ‘suitable and sufficient instruction and training on the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken by the employee in order to safeguard himself and other relevant persons on the premises’ be provided by the employer.
Fire Extinguisher Training
Our trainer will talk delegates through the different Classes of fire and the range of fire extinguishers commonly available to combat them. All delegates will have a chance to use a water and carbon dioxide fire extinguisher under supervision of the instructor.
Fire Awareness Training
Including the above but with additional time spent discussing personal fire experiences, how fires start (the fire triangle), the most common causes of fire, the premises evacuation procedure and ways of improving the fire safety with the workplace. These sessions take approx one hour.
Care Home Fire Training
These sessions can be expanded to spend additional time looking at the evacuation strategy for the building and a tour of the premises looking at the fire equipment in place. A short question and answer sheet is available so that we can establish evidence of learning if required. This is particularly useful in business premises such as care homes where residents are reliant on staff to assist with evacuation. These training sessions take approx. 2/2.5 hours.
We try to involve the delegates within the sessions as much as possible so that they take an active role in the training. The maximum number of attendees at each of the above sessions (except Evac Chair Training) is capped at fifteen delegates.
